How long will shisha last
How should you properly store your hookah tobacco to make sure it lasts as long as possible? It's probably not a question you've thought about too often but proper storage is what keeps your hookah tobacco fresh and smoking well for a long time. Improperly stored tobacco can even ruin what you spent your hard-earned money on, so this is serious business! But don't worry, here are a few tips that will help you keep your tobacco in tip-top shape whether you want to enjoy it now or in a few months.
First, let's talk about how long your hookah tobacco should last. Unopened hookah tobacco typically has a shelf life of around 2 years assuming it's properly sealed. Once you open it, tobacco can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months if you are using appropriate storage techniques. Can you believe that? That means, had I blindly trusted the seller and not double-checked my purchase, I would have smoked tobacco that had surpassed its recommended smoking date by 2 years! Based on this experience, I hope we are able to teach you a lesson because we certainly now check the expiry date of our hookah tobacco, because sometimes, your hookah supplier either simply does not care, they only want to sell and make money.
Charcoal does not have an expiry date, it is completely fine to use old charcoal, the coal will not expire, however, it is best to keep it sealed and away from moisture, moisture will not damage your coals per se but you will notice that they will burn out much quicker than they once did because their quality will no longer be good.
This is called having water-damaged coals. So what should you do if that happens? The best way to treat water-damaged coals is by baking them, you can heat your oven to degrees, if your oven has a convection setting, that is even better. Convection settings turn on a fan inside to displace hot air, effectively drying coals.
Bake your coals for hours and then allow them to cool down before properly storing them. Additionally, as we discussed earlier, make sure your charcoal is stored out of reach from children as they could confuse them for something that is meant to be eaten!
Charcoal is definitely not chocolate and it definitely will not taste as good, unfortunately, it could be extremely harmful! All in all, the best way to store coals is not in the original container, especially in regions with high humidity.
Buy an air-tight container and keep them there. If kept dry, coals can last you indefinitely! My name is S. A Marketer by profession, a Hookah smoker by passion! I come from a house where hookah smoking is part of my culture. I have pictures of my grandfather smoking his beloved hookah too. I believe there is art in everything, and I try to depict the art I see in my hookah sessions and try my best to share them with you so you enjoy your hookah with me. This time can vary greatly depending on several components.
These factors include but are not limited to, the hookah bowl type, material and size, ingredients of shisha tobacco and pack methods, type of hookah charcoal, heat management and your own personal preferences.
The first hookah part to consider when trying to extend how long your session lasts, is the hookah bowl. A quality shisha bowl can do wonders for your hookah session. First off, size matters. This should go without saying, a large bowl that holds more shisha will last longer than a smaller bowl.
The type of material used to produce the head affects the duration as well. Materials like clay or stoneware provide the best heat retention and circulation, baking your shisha more evenly. Bowls made of glass or metal get much hotter and may burn your tobacco prematurely. Be aware of your hookah bowl material if you are concerned about longevity. Last but not least, the type of hookah bowl affects the length of your hookah session as well. A shisha head with a raised center spire like a phunnel bowl or vortex bowl, allow the shisha juices to remain inside.
The juices are what creates the vapor or smoke. The longer the juices stay in your bowl, the longer the hookah will last. These bowls also create better airflow and help to maintain temperature throughout a session. Other bowls, like the classic Egyptian bowl with holes in the bottom, allow juices to slide down into the pipe.
This effectively shortens the smoking time. It really depends how u store ur shisha, and how long u think old is. Most shisha has enough glycerin in it to preserve it for at least a year.
AF used to post expiration dates on the packages 2 years from production dates. So I would say unless you are storing shisha for years you should be ok to smoke it. But keep it in an airtight container, so it doesnt dry out. If it smells good and has some moisture in it, then smoke it. Try it before you toss.
