What is the difference between critics and reviewers

So when you criticize something you just say negative things, but when you critique something you can say both positive things and negative things. We often critique books, art, movies… the judges on talent shows like cooking shows or singing shows will critique the performance of the cooks or singers.

What about the word critic? This has the stress on the first syllable: CRI -tic. A critic is a person who judges or evaluates something. The people who write movie reviews are called movie critics. To me, what differentiates a critic from a reviewer is whether they do it professionally or not.

Yet, on the whole, someone who writes reviews professionally is going to be a critic. However, someone who regularly writes, or films, a review of a game and shares it with the world is, in my view, a reviewer. So, there you have it. What do you think about those terms?

The audience is made up of people like your readers. If they enjoy the performance or exhibit, that could translate into a favorable impression to include in your review. If they will be cut, they will be cut from the middle not the end. Most reviewers, like columnists, are given a word limit in which to write so the copy editor knows how much space to estimate for the review as they are designing the paper.
